Just saw the spring update for that Way-Too-Early Top 25 list, and it just makes me think about how meaningless these bowl games have become. They list all these teams like Indiana and Texas Tech, and I remember when the Cotton Bowl and the Sugar Bowl meant something, when you played a team you never saw and it was a reward for a great season. Now it's just a glorified exhibition before everybody hits the portal, a pit stop before the NFL Draft for the guys who haven't already opted out. We used to build our whole season around getting to New Orleans on New Year's Day, not worrying about who was transferring out before the game was even played. The tradition is gone, replaced by a transactional mindset that starts the second the regular season ends.
