That's a lazy take from someone who clearly didn't watch the film. Our havoc rate was down because we were playing a ton of young guys who are now a year older, and the scheme was simplified to keep them on the field. You don't just install a new aggressive front overnight with a rster that young. The new transfers, especially those edge guys, were brought in specifically for their pass-rush ability, which directly addresses the pressure issue. The staff has been crystal clear this spring about generating more negative plays. The ceiling issue last year was depth and experience, not scheme. Now we have both. To say the scheme is the problem ignores the development happening right now. Our defensive coordinator knows he needs to dial up more pressures, and with the portal haul, he finally has the pieces to do it. Expect a major bump in TFLs this fall. This feels like a rival trying to stir the pot during a quiet period. Just wait until we get those new crows on campus for their OVs and you see the new packages.
