Everyone acting like the SEC is still some untouchable mountain is living in 2020. Texas held their own last year and the 2026 class shows they're reloading not rebuilding. But here's the real story nobody wants to talk about: the SEC's depth is actually a problem now. When you look at the bottom half of the conference, those teams are cannibalizing each other with portal losses and coaching turnover. Oklahoma State brought in 50 transfers under Eric Morris. That's not a rebuild, that's a desperate Hail Mary. Meanwhile Texas has stability in the quarterback room with Arch Manning projected as a top 2027 NFL Draft pick per the ESPN scout poll. The Longhorns have a 5-star QB in Dia Bell coming in too. The SEC West is a mess outside of LSU and maybe Texas A&M. Georgia is still Georgia but the gap is closing fast. Texas returns 68% production and has the recruiting infrastructure to sustain. The conference hierarchy is shifting and the Horns are positioned to take the throne while everyone else is scrambling through the portal.
