Is anyone else noticing that Texas is sitting at No. 6 in the 2027 recruiting rankings and nobody is panicking? That tells me this staff knows exactly what they're doing. The Longhorns already locked in a 5-star QB in the 2026 class with Dia Bell and stacked the edge room with Richard Wesley. Now they're being patient and selective in 2027 while other programs are scrambling to fill classes early.
What matters more is the average star rating per commit, NOT just the total points. Texas is taking quality over quantity right now and that's how you build a roster that actually develops instead of one that churns every offseason. The SEC is brutal and you need guys who will stay in the program for 3-4 years, not portal out after one season.
Oregon has five 5-stars in their 2026 class and that's impressive on paper but let's see how many of those guys are still on the roster in two years. Texas is building something sustainable with this approach.
