Our secondary was actually solid last season, especially considering the injuries we battled through. You can't just plug in a portal guy and expect chemistry, our defensive backs have been grinding together for years. We develop our own talent better than anyone in the UMAC, and that homegrown grit wins championships. Maybe the portal is a quick fix for some, but we build our foundation on players who choose to be Cougars from day one. Our coaches recruit guys who fit our culture, not just chase stars.
