Mark my words: The Sarkisian coaching tree hires will be what separates Texas from Georgia in the 2026 CFP race. Georgia has Kirby Smart calling plays on defense still and that works, sure. But Texas has quietly built a staff where every single assistant has either coordinated at a Power Four program or developed multiple NFL draft picks at their position. The Longhorns ranked 4th in SP+ last season and that was with coordinator turnover. Now the staff has had a full year together and the continuity in meeting rooms is going to show up on third down. Georgia brought in new offensive staff this spring and that adjustment period is real. Texas has the schematic advantage before the first snap even happens.
