Calling it now: Texas is going to have the hardest path to the SEC title game of any team in the conference and nobody wants to talk about it. The Longhorns have to navigate road games at Ohio State, at Florida, at Alabama, and at Texas A&M. That is four true road games against teams that finished in the top 25 of SP+ last season. Georgia gets Texas at home and avoids Ohio State entirely. Alabama gets Texas at home too. The gap in schedule difficulty between Texas and the rest of the SEC contenders is massive and it is going to cost them a playoff seed if not a playoff spot entirely. The Longhorns finished 2025 ranked 2nd in the SEC in yards per play allowed but that was with a home-heavy schedule. This year the math is different.
