ESPN dropped their top 10 receivers list for 2026 and Texas is completely absent. Ohio State's guy is the clear No. 1 and that's fine, but the Longhorns not having a single receiver on that list is a real concern for the playoff projection. The receiving corps is going to need to prove itself against SEC secondaries that ranked top 5 in passing yards allowed per game last season.
The 2026 schedule includes trips to Alabama and Georgia, plus the Red River game against an Oklahoma team that brought in 50 portal guys. Without a proven No. 1 target, the offense becomes one-dimensional and that's how you lose to teams with elite defensive fronts. Texas ranked 14th in QBR last season but that was with NFL-caliber talent at receiver.
The Kasi Currie commit helps the defensive line for 2027 but the immediate playoff path runs through a receiver room that has to show it can win one-on-one matchups against top-tier SEC corners.
