You see ESPN dropping that 2027 five-star tracker with 21 names and people are already crying about USC not having a single one locked up yet. I cannot take the panic anymore. The 247 composite has us at No. 11 but that does not tell you anything about the sillent commits the staff is sitting on right now in this dead period. I have sources close to the program saying we are about to bump on a couple of elite prospects who have been taking OVs quietly all spring without the crystal balls lighting up.
Everybody screaming about Oregon stacking five-stars and Georgia locking down the top of the rankings. Cool. Those programs have been established for a decade. We are in year whatever of the rebuild under this staff and the Big Ten transition is still settling. The ESPN breakdown literally says these 21 five-stars are spread across more programs than ever because NIL is leveling the playing field. That is good for us. That means a kid from California does not have to go to Alabama to get paid anymore.
The staff is working the bagman game hard on the trail for a couple of those 21 names that fit what we need. I keep hearing whispers that a five-star skill position player is closer than the rankings show. Stop acting like the class is dead when we are sitting on a top-15 composite and still have a full year ahead. The Big Ten preview literally has us in the mix with Oregon and Ohio State for the conference title. That sells to croots. Wait until the first OV weekend in the fall when these kids see the Coliseum lights. We will be fine.
