Raiola hasn't taken a single college snap and you think he's just gonna waltz into the starting job at a program with playoff expectations? That's pure fantasy. Oregon has a proven veteran in Dillon Gabriel who has thrown for over 14,000 yards and 125 touchdowns. You don't bench that for a true freshman, no matter how hyped he was coming out of high school. This isn't some rebuid year, this is a national title contender. Lanning would be insane to throw a rookie into the fire against Idaho and Boise State just to have him. Gabriel is a known commodity who can manage this offense and win big games right now. Raiola might be the future, but the future is 2025. Calling this a "fake controversy" is just wishful thinking from rivals who are scared of what a polished. Gabriel gives them the best chance to beat Ohio State and Michigan, period. The kid will have to earn it, and that takes more than just spring practice hype.
