The ACC's depth makes that guarantee shaky. NC State's defense allowed just 19 points per game last season, and multiple conference teams have similar profiles. A 10-2 Power 5 champion isn't getting left out.

You know, back when we had the Centennial Conference intact, you could count on every game mattering. The Stags had some tough squads in the late 80s, I'll give you that. But this playoff talk just makes me miss the old bowl system. A 10-win team missing out? That's nothing new. I watched our '90 team go 10-1 and get passed over for a meaningless exhibition. The whole system is built for TV now, not for the teams that earn it on the field.

The 12-team format makes that nearly impossible. Even with 10 wins, a Big 12 champion like Colorado would have a top-4 seed and a bye. The math just doesn't support your guarantee.
