I need to see the five star tracker right now because I refuse to believe we are sitting here in June with the 2027 class shaping up the way it is and we are not even in the conversation for the elite guys. ESPN drops their top 20 rankings and I scroll through and I see Ohio State, Georgia, Oregon, Notre Dame all loading up on those 247 composite five star talents and where are we? Somewhere in the teens again. That is not where USC football belongs. We have the brand, we have the location, we have the NIL infrastructure finally catching up and yet we keep missing on the difference makers.
I am watching the crystal ball projections for the top uncommitted five stars in 2027 and the noise is all pointing toward Big Ten rivals and SEC programs. Oregon is out here stacking five star after five star with that Nike money and we are supposed to just accept that we cannot compete? No chance. The staff needs to lock in on these official vissits this summer and start flipping some of these silent commits before they go public elsewhere. The dead period is the time to build relationships and we better be the ones setting the tone.
If we end this year without at least two five star prospects in the class I am going to be asking some serious questions about where the recruiting strategy is headed. The 2027 class is the one that sets the foundation for the next era of USC football and we cannot afford to be playing catch up again.
