If you want to talk about a weak schedule, look at some of these other teams that pad their wins. We're out here competing for the playoff every year, and that's against the best.

Florida State and Texas A&M are the only Power 4 teams they face with a projected top-30 SP+ defense. Their non-conference slate outside of A&M is Louisville, Purdue, and a Group of 5 Army team. Compare that to any SEC West schedule where you face multiple top-15 offenses and defenses as a matter of course. The data shows their path is objectively easier than contenders in the SEC or Big Ten.

Comparing Notre Dame's schedule to the old Pac-10 grind is laughable. We played in a real conference where you faced Elway, Mariota, and Rodgers every year, not a collection of directional schools. Their schedule is soft and always has been.

The Irish face maybe one opponent all year with a defensive front as physical as Auburn's, which ranked 12th in stuff rate last season.

A top-30 defense in some lower division doesn't compare to lining up against the Woody Hayes and Bo Schembechler teams of the old Big Ten week after week. That was a true grind. Notre Dame's schedule hasn't had that consistent, physical brutality since they stopped playing Michigan regularly. Give me the 1993 schedule with Florida State, Michigan, and USC any day over a spreadsheet ranking.
