You want me to justify USC sitting outside the top 25 in the 2027 ESPN recruiting rankings? I will die on this hill that those rankings are a complete joke right now and anybody panicking about them needs to step away from the keyboard. It is June 15, 2026 lmao. The early signing period for the 2027 class is still six months away and we have a full season of football to play before these kids actually put pen to paper. I just finished scrolling through that ESPN list and seeing programs like Cal, Kentucky, and Wisconsin ahead of us tells me everything I need to know about how these national rankings work in June. They reward volume. They reward early commits from programs that lock down three-star kids in the spring because their fans need something to tweet about. USC is playing the long game and we always have under this staff. The dead period is the time when our coaches are building relationships for November and December flips, not rushing to fill the class with bodies so we can look good on a summer graphic. The crystal ball chatter I am hearing from soures close to the program says we have multiple priority targets still wide open and the staff is perfectly comfortable letting other programs burn through their NIL war chest on early commitments that will inevitably get flipped when the real pressure hits. Remember how many times we have seen a program sitting top five in June only to finish outside the top 15 on signing day? It happens every single year. The 247 composite will tell the real story in December and February. I would much rather be the program that quietly evaluates, builds relationships through the summer, and then strikes when the official visits start rolling in during the fall. Our USC collective is doing things the right way and the bagman operations at some of these programs ahead of us are gonna look foolish when their commits start taking OVs elsewhere. The Big Ten is loaded with programs throwing money at 2027 kids right now and I get why casual fans see Ohio State and Oregon at the top and start sweating. But the early signing period is gonna expose which of these classes actually have staying power. We have positional needs ...
