We see this every offseason, someone tries to hype up a middle-of-the-pack Big 12 team because they had a decent portal class. Let's be real, the portal arms race benefits the established powers way more than anyone else. Georgia reloads with five-stars every single year, and Oregon is buying a whole new defense with Nike money. Meanwhile, we're over here building something real in Orlando, and we play Texas Tech every year. They aren't sneaking up on anyone in this conference, especially not us. Their defense couldn't stop a nosebleed last season, and no amount of portal magic fixes that overnight. The playoff is still going to be the usual suspects, maybe with one surprise, and that surprise won't be coming from Lubbock.
