Just saw the numbers on Oklahoma State grabbing 50 transfers and Colorado with 43 new faces and I had to sit down. This isnt college football anymore, this is free agency. I remember when we built the 1993 Rose Bowl team with kids who came to Madison as freshmmen, sat through two-a-days in August heat, learned to block the right way under Coach Alvarez, and stayed because they believed in something. Now these kids are shopping themselves around like used cars every December. You cant build a program when your left tackle in spring ball was at a different school last fall. We are trying to compete with Notre Dame this fall and half their roster probably wasnt even there two years ago. The portal and NIL killed the soul of this sport and nobody wants to admit it. I miss when a scholarship meant something, when you earned your playing time and your degree from the same place.
