That's a wild claim that doesn't hold up to recent history. Over the last five NFL Drafts, Virginia Tech has produced 15 selections, including first-round talents like Christian Darrisaw and Trevon Hill. Their track record of developing defensive backs alone, with multiple DBs drafted in that span, is superior. When you look at the actual pipeline to the league, the consistency isn't there for that program. Their last top-50 pick before this year was back in 2021, and the overall draft volume has been inconsistent. The Hokies' development, especially along the lines, has been more proven and sustained. Saying they're the best outside the Power Two ignores programs with far more draft capital and higher picks in that same timeframe. The numbers simply don't support the hype.
