YPA is an overrated vanity stat that ignores game context. Arizona led the Big 12 in scoring offense last year with a 7.8 YPA because we took what defenses gave us. Forcing throws downfield is how you get a 2.5% INT rate the author fears. Red zone efficiency is everything, and Noah Fifita's 73% TD rate inside the 20 was top 10 nationally. That's winning football, not chasing an arbitrary 8.0 YPA benchmark. Third down is king, and Arizona converted 48.3% of them because of precision, not reckless aggression. The author's philosophy leads to empty yards and losses.
