The SEC previews are out and everybody is talking about Georgia and Texas but the QB efficiency numbers from last season tell a completely different story about Florida's ceiling. The Gators finished 2025 with a QBR that ranked 8th in the SEC which sounds mediocre until you factor in the offensive line giving up pressure on 38% of dropbacks. That is a brutal number for any quarterback to overcome.
Calling it now: Florida's QB room in 2026 will post the highest passer rating on third down of any SEC team not named Texas or Alabama. The combination of the new transfer coming in plus the development of the backup from last season gives this offense something it has not had in years. A quarterback who can actually function when the pocket collapses.
The ESPN preview is sleeping on what happens when you pair a competent QB with a defense that finished top 25 in SP+ last season. That is how you flip close losses into wins. Florida was 3-4 in one-score games in 2025. Fix the QB efficiency...
