Calling it now: Florida Gators QB efficiency jumps 30 spots in the national rankings this season and it won't even be close. People keep pointing at DJ Lagway leaving like the offense is doomed but that 56.3 QBR from last year is actually the floor not the ceiling. The Gators finished 67th in QBR which is genuinely bad but the real story is how much of that was system related versus personnel. The new staff under Sumrall has completely reworked the passing concepts and the spring practice reports suggest the timing routes are actually hitting now.
The portal QB competition article from ESPN nailed it when they talked about how Florida is one of the few programs still letting it play out in camp. That matters because the Gators have two guys who both graded out around 63-68 in PFF last season. Neither is a star but both are capable of hitting 60% completion and a 2:1 TD:INT ratio which would be a massive upgrade over the 1.4:1 ratio from 2025. The offensive line returning four starters with over 500 snaps each changes everything for QB efficiency. When your QB has 2.4 seconds to throw instead of 1.8, completion percentage jumps 5-7 points automatically.
The Gators averaged 6.1 yards per attempt last season which ranked 102nd nationally. That number jumps to 7.5 minimum with even average QB play behind this line. Mark it down.
