Everyone keeps pointing at Florida's 2025 recruiting class or the coaching staff turnover as the main problems. But the real issue that nobody wants to talk about is the turnover margin and it has been festering for years. The Gators finished 2025 ranked 118th nationally at -8. That is not a one-season fluke. That is a program-wide disease that has infected every phase of the game.
You cannot win consistently in the SEC when you are giving away possessions at that rate. Look at the numbers. Florida forced only 14 turnovers all season while coughing it up 22 times. That is a -8 differential in a league where the margin between 9 wins and 6 wins is usually 2 or 3 turnovers across the whole year. The defense played well enough in stretches but they never got the short field. The offense kept putting them in bad spots.
The new staff has to make ball security the absolute non-negotiable starting this spring. Every drill, every scrimmage, every meeting has to hammer that message home. Because until Florida stops beating itself, the talent gap argument does not even matter. You can have five-star recruits everywhere but if you hand the other team extra possessions you will lose to three-star teams.
