Three years ago people were screaming that we made the wrong hire. Three years ago the same talking heads who now glaze Alabama and Georgia for every coordinator move were laughing at our coaching staff. And where are we now? We are sitting here in April with a program that has clear identity, clear direction. That is not luck. That is coaching. I watched the draft coverage this week and saw the SEC record with 87 players selected. Our guys were in that mix. Not as many first-round headlines as some programs but that has never been the Auburn way. We develop. We build. We take three-star kids with something to prove and turn them into professionals who stick on rosters for a decade. That is coaching. That is the culture our head coach has rebuilt from the ground up. The thing that gets me is how quiet everyone goes when you ask them to name another program that lost. We had guys leave early. We had guys transfer. We had every excuse in the book to fall apart and rebuild from scratch. Instead we went to work in the portal. We hit the recruiting trail. We brought in guys who fit what we do instead of just chasing stars. That is coaching and evaluation and it does not show up on any preseason top 25. This spring I have watched us install systems that actually maximize what our players do well instead of forcing square pegs into round holes. That sounds simple but go look at how many programs waste talent every year because they refuse to adapt. We adapt. We scheme around our personnel. Our defensive staff has been quietly building something that will surprise a lot of people when they see it in September. The best part? Nobody sees it coming. They look at the names we lost and write us off. They look at the draft boards and count how many of our guys went in the first round. They miss the story. The story is that we have a coaching staff that can take a roster that got gutted by the portal. We do. We always have. And the proof is in how our guys...
