Wait so Brendan Sorsby is out at Texas Tech for gambling issues and the media acts like that's some kind of scandal? Please. Back in the 90s we had players running card games in the locker room after practice and nobody called it a crisis. We just handled it internally like men. Now everything is a front page story and every program is one bad decision away from collapsing because nobody stays long enough to build real character anymore.
This whole situation reminds me of the 2009 season when we had a quarterback controversy that would have destroyed any modern roster. But we had Andy Dalton and those guys sat in the film room together and worked it out because they were invested in the program not their brand. You think any of these portal jumpers would sit through a position battle for two years and learn the playbook? No they'd be in the portal by December begging for NIL money somewhere else.
Texas Tech will be fine because they still have some of that old school West Texas toughness in their culture. But watching the whole Big 12 scramble every spring because quarterbacks are leaving or getting suspended or chasing money makes me sick. We used to know who our quarterback was in March and he stayed until he graduated. Now I need a roster card just to follow spring practice. The game is broken and nobody wants to admit it.
