Just saw that Rich Rodriguez interview talking about the underdog mentality at West Virginia and it got me thinking about coaching loyalty. I remember when Coach Dooley walked into my living room in 1983 and sat there for two hours talking to my daddy about what it meant to wear the G. He was building something brick by brick, not jumping from job to job every three years like these guys do now. Rodriguez has been everywhere from Michigan to Arizona to Jacksonville State and now he is back at West Virginia acting like he invented grit. Coach Dooley stayed through the 60s, 70s, and 80s through the lean years and the good years. That is what built this program, not some recycled coach coming back for a second act because the first one did not work out. We have been blessed with stability in Athens and I hope these younger fans understand how rare that is.
