Watched Nick Saban up there in front of Congress this week begging for some common sense and it just broke my heart a little. Here is a man who built dynasties the old fashioned way, teaching boys how to become men in that weight room, and now he has to go sit in a hearing room and plead with politicians to save the sport he loves. That is where we are in 2026.
I reemember the 1992 team when we won it all with a defense that would not let you breathe. Those boys did not have a single transfer among them. They came to Tuscaloosa, they worked, they bled, they graduated. Now we have to have federal legislation just to keep some kid from jumping ship because another school offered him a better car deal. The whole thing makes me sick.
You watch these spring practice clips and see all these new faces on the offensive line we brought in through the portal and I cannot help but wonder what Coach Bryant would say. He built his teams on Alabama boys who grew up wanting to wear that crimson jersey. Now we are patching together a line from kids who have already been at two other schools. Nothing against them personally but the loyalty is gone. The grit is gone. You cannot buy chemistry in a transfer window.
