You see us land Colton Nussmeier, a fine looking recruit out of the pocket passer mold, and everybody is excited about the future and I get it. But I cannot help thinking back to the 2002 game against Florida down in Jacksonville, the one where we finally broke through and beat those Gators after all those years of heartbreak. The whole stadium was rocking and we had guys like David Pollack and Boss Bailey who could have gone anywhere in the portal era but they stayed and built something together. That rivalry game meant everything because you had to live with the loss for 365 days. Now a kid can transfer to Florida after spring practice and nobody even blinks. Nussmeier better understand what that game means because the portal makes it too easy to run away from the fight.
