You see this whole Florida Georgia game moving to Mercedes Benz Stadium this year and I tell you what, it just gets under my skin. Back in the 1980s we played that game in Jacksonville every single year and it was the best neutral site in college football. The Georgia fans took over the whole city, we had that old Gator Bowl with the rickety bleachers and the smell of boiled peanuts and cigar smoke mixing together. Now they want to move it to a sterile NFL dome in Atlanta because of some scheduling nonsense. I remember going down to Jacksonville in 1985 with my father and we sat in the rain and watched us grind out a 24 3 win and it was perfect. That game belonged to Jacksonville not to some corporate suite in Atlanta. The World Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party is dying and it breaks my heart. We are losing every tradition that made this sport special.
