People are way too focused on Florida's No. 24 ranking in the 2027 recruiting class and completely ignoring the actual on-field problem that cost this team games last season. The Gators finished 87th nationally in red zone touchdown percentage in 2025. That is inexcusable for a program with Florida's resources. You can have all the five-star talent in the world but if you cannot punch it in from inside the 20, you are leaving wins on the table every single week.
Calling it now: Florida's red zone offense will jump at least 40 spots in the national rankings this season. The new offensive staff has spent the entire spring installing a condensed red zone package that prioritizes the run game and play-action off it. The Gators were way too predictable in short-yardage situations last year and it showed in the numbers. When you convert less than 55 percent of your red zone trips into touchdowns, you are basically begging to lose close games.
The portal additions on the interior offensive line are going to be the difference. Florida brought in two veteran guards who can actually create movement in tight spaces. Last season the Gators got blown off the ball on third and short way too often. That changes this year. The SEC is won in the red zone and Florida has been terrible there for two straight seasons. This staff knows it and has made it the top priority. Mark it down.
