I was sitting here thinking about bowl season and how we used to go to the Sugar Bowl and it meant something. New Orleans in January, the whole city painted crimson and white. You knew two weeks ahead of time who you were playing and you spent December studying that opponent like it was a final exam. Now you got players opting out before the conference championship game even ends and half the roster is in the portal by the time the bowl matchup is announced. The 1993 Sugar Bowl against Miami, that was a proper national championship game. We shut down the Hurricanes and the whole country knew who the real champs were. No opt outs, no transfers, no NIL distractions. Just football. I miss those January nights in the Superdome when the game still meant everything.
