Three years of this dead period nonsense and I am already tired of hearing about the portal window previews. Everybody acting like the winter window being the only window is gonna fix roster stability. Please. All it does is compress the chaos into one massive feeding frenzy in December. I have sources close to the program telling me the staff is already mapping out their portal board for December and it is gonna get ugly. The spring window being eliminated does not stop the bagman game, it just makes it more desperate.
Meanwhile Oregon is sitting there with five five-stars in their 2027 class and people want to talk about how they are building for the future. Cool. Their QB room is Dante Moore vs Dylan Raiola and neither one has proven they can win a big game yet. I will take our developmental approach and the silent commits I am hearing about in the 2027 year over their flashy crystal balls any day. The 247 composite does not tell you who actually develops.
The real question nobody is asking about the portal window is what happens when the NIL revenue-sharing model caps at 20.5 million. That is gonna shake everything up. Programs that have been buying rosters with unlimited bag money are about to hit a hard ceiling. Our staff is playing chess while everybody else is playing checkers on this one. Watch the December window closely. That is where the real movement happens.
