You see ESPN putting together a top 100 newcomers list and it just reminds me how far we have strayed from what made this sport great. I think back to the 1992 squad that won it all and I cannot name you a single transfer on that entire roster. Every single one of those boys came in as freshmen together, grew up together, and left together. That is how you build a program. Now we are supposed to get excited about a bunch of kids who have already been at two or three schools before they turn 21. The whole concept of developing a player over four years is dead and buried and that breaks my heart more than anything. We used to pride ourselves on taking a raw 18 year old and turning him into a man by his senior season. Now it is all about who can put together the best rental roster for 12 months.
