Wait so Florida ranked 87th in passing efficiency inside the red zone last season and people still want to blame the quarterback. That is not a QB stat. That is a spacing and route timing stat. When you are inside the 20 the field compresses and you need your receivers to win at the break point and your playcaller to scheme open windows. Florida was doing neither. The Gators converted red zone trips into touchdowns at a rate that ranked outside the top 70 nationally. That is not sustainable if you want to compete in the SEC.
The fix has to come from the coaching staff tightening up the route combinations and the quarterback making faster decisions. You cannot leave points on the board against Georgia or Texas and expect to win. If the red zone efficiency does not jump into the top 40 this fall the record will look the same regardless of who is taking the snaps.
