You see the Big Ten handing out $1.37 billion to 18 schools and I just shake my head. All that money and half of it goes straight into NIL collectives to convince 20 year olds not to transfer. We used to have walk ons who would bleed cardinal and white for a warm meal and a chance to earn a jersey. Now these kids are basically free agents every winter. Barry Alvarez built this program with three star kids who stayed four years and got degrees. Now we are just bidding against Texas and Oregon for the same mercenaries. The money is nice but I miss when the game meant something more than a bidding war.
