Everyone talking about Georgia and Texas as the turnover margin kings is missing what actually happened last season. Florida Gators finished at -6, ranked 103rd nationally. That is not a talent problem, that is a discipline and coaching problem that Billy Napier never fixed. You cannot win in the SEC when you are giving away possessions at that rate.
The crazy part is the offense actually moved the ball decently in stretches. But you put the ball on the ground or throw a pick in the red zone and suddenly you are playing from behind against teams that do not make those mistakes. Georgia was +11 last year. Texas was +8. Those are the programs that understand the math. You take care of the ball and you force takeaways, you win close games.
Sumrall has to make this the number one priority in spring ball. Drills on ball security, drills on stripping the ball, film study on decision making. It is not complicated. The 2026 schedule has enough winnable games that flipping that margin from -6 to even +3 would change the entire trajectory of the season. That is four more possessions in Florida's favor over 12 games. That is the difference between 5-7 and 8-4.
