You're just bitter because your program can't compete in the new landscape. Kansas State has always been about development, and guess what? We're still doing it, just with better players now. That "auction" is called fair market value, something your coaches clearly can't sell. We build men with heart AND get them paid, which is the whole point. Your nostalgia is just an excuse for losing.
