That take is pure copium from someone who hasn't been watching spring ball. Dante Moore has the pedigree, sure, but calling the battle a waste of time is a massive disservice to what's actulaly happening in Eugene. Lanning and Will Stein didn't bring in Dillon Gabriel for a cup of coffee, that's a sixth-year guy with serious production who knows this offensive system inside and out. You don't just hand the keys to the Ferrari to a true sophomore, even a five-star, when you have a proven veteran who can execute the offense at a high level right now. This is about winning games in the Big Ten from day one, not developing for the future. Moore might have the higher ceiling, but Gabriel has the floor and the experience. The competition is absolutely vital to push both of them, and the best player will win the job. To say it's decided before fall camp even starts shows a complete lack of understanding about how a top-tier program operates. The noise out of practices suggests this is a real, heated battle, not a coronation.
