Just saw that all Big 12 coaches voted unanimously for a 24 team plaoff and I had to sit down. Every single one of them raised their hand for it. That tells you everything about where this sport has gone. Back in the 1998 Sun Bowl when we went toe to toe with USC and that defense of ours held them to under 200 yards total offense, you earned your way into a bowl game by winning games that mattered. You did not get a participation trophy because you finished eighth in a 16 team league. Coach Sullivan built this program on the idea that you fight for every single snap and you earn every single opportunity. Now these coaches are basically admitting they cannot win enough games to stand out in a 12 team field so they want to double the size of the bracket. What is next, every team gets a playoff spot and we hand out ribbons? The old Big 12 had Oklahoma and Nebraska and Texas and us battling it out and only the strong survived. Now we are watering down the whole thing so nobody has to feel left out. I just do not recognize this conference anymore.
