You watch ESPN roll out their top 100 newcomers list and I cannot find a single Horned Frog on there and you know what? That tells me we are doing thngs the right way. Back in the 1998 Sun Bowl squad we won with a bunch of kids that nobody wanted from the recruiting rankings and Coach Franchione built something with players who actually wanted to be here. Now every program in the country is just buying their roster like they are shopping for used cars and calling it a rebuild.
Colorado brings in 43 transfers and Oklahoma State brings in 50 and everybody acts like that is the new way to win. I remember when you spent four years in the same program and you earned your spot by grinding through summer workouts not by hitting the portal the second spring ball got hard. The NIL money has turned college football into a free agency circus and the loyalty we used to see from guys like those 2005 teams that went 11-1 is completely gone. Give me a roster full of high school kids who want to be Horned Frogs over a collection of mercenaries any day of the week and twice on Saturday.
