Just saw the SEC Now crew run through the 2026 schedule takeaways and not a single mention of what Florida's QB efficiency numbers actually look like heading into summer workouts. The Gators finished last season ranked 87th in QBR as a team and people want to talk about tough stretches and key dates without addressing the elephant in the room.
Florida's passing game averaged just 6.2 yards per attempt last season which ranked 112th nationally. That is not a schedule problem. That is a quarterback play problem that no amount of favorable matchup timing is gonna fix. The Gators have to improve their completion percentage over expectation which sat at negative 4.3% last year per the advanced numbers.
The schedule breakdowns are fine for casual conversation but the real question nobody on that show asked is whether the QB room can get the ball out under 2.8 seconds consistently. Florida's sack rate allowed was directly tied to how long the quarterback held the ball and that number has to drop by at least half a second for any of these schedule takeaways to matter.
