Just saw Stephen A. Smith running his mouth about Coach DeBoer's extension, and I had to laugh. That man never played a down of football in his life and he's telling us what Alabama should do with our program. This reminds me of the 1988 season when everybody wrote us off after Coach Bryant had been gone a few years and then we went out and beat LSU in Baton Rouge like it was nothing. These national talking heads don't understand what this program is built on. We've been through Bear to Ray Perkins to Stallings to Dubose to Franchione to Shula to Saban and now DeBoer, and the standard has never changed. You give a coach seven years and 87 million dollars because you believe in stability, not because you want instant gratification from some ESPN hot take artist. The transfer portal and NIL have made roster building a nightmare, but the foundation is still there. Let Stephen A. keep talking while we keep winning.
