Watched a recruiting breakdown earlier and it just hit me how different things are now. Back when Coach Franchione was bringing in the 1998 class, we were finding diamond in the rough kids from small Texas towns who wanted to be Horned Frogs for life. You would watch their high school film on grainy VHS tapes and see something special that nobody else noticed. Now every kid with a highlight reel is getting offered by 15 schools before their junior year and the whole proecss feels like a cattle auction. The NIL money has turned these young men into mercenaries before they even set foot on campus. I miss the days when a recruit would commit to TCU because his daddy watched Bob Lilly play and the purple ran through his blood, not because some collective put together a better package. That is what built the foundation for the 2010 Rose Bowl team.
