We see this every year, a team loses its best defensive player and the fans start talking about "system" and. The truth is, you need dudes to make plays, and without that alpha dog on the edge, your whole pressure calculus changes. Their "top 25" tackles for loss stat is cute, but who did they play? Their schedule was soft in stretches, and they still got gashed by the good teams. Saying they'll lead the SEC in negative plays without a premier pass rusher is pure fantasy. Their linebackers are average at best, and talking about "processing speed" is just a fancy way of saying they were slow to react last season. We faced plenty of teams that tried to scheme pressure against us, and with our offensive line development, we eat those simulated blitzes for breakfast.
