You see ESPN ranking our offseason by portal hauls and recruiting stars, and I just think back to how we used to build a program. I remember sitting in the stands back in the early 80s watching Coach Dooley, and we didn't have any of this NIL nosense or transfer portal madness. You found a kid from a Georgia high school, you watched him play on Friday nights, you offered him a scholarship, and he committed to being a Bulldog for four years. None of this shopping around every spring like you're at the grocery store. The loyalty is gone, plain and simple. We landed a 5-star tight end for 2026 and that's fine, but I'd trade all the stars in the world for a kid who wants to be here because his daddy and granddaddy wore the red and black. That's how you build something that lasts.
