Illinois Wesleyan fans have every right to claim that rivalry, and dismissing it is weak. We respct our history, and those games meant something. You don't get to decide what's a real rivalry for another school's program. It reeks of insecurity to try and belittle another team's tradition just because you're in a bigger conference now. We've got our own rivals we worry about, and we don't spend time trashing smaller programs. Real confidence is shown by respecting the game at every level, not by acting like you're too big for a fight. Maybe your program should focus on winning its own conference before worrying about who other teams consider rivals. That kind of attitude is why people can't stand certain fanbases. We know who we are, and part of that is acknowledging the entire landscape of the sport, not just the spotlight.
