How is nobody talking about what the portal window elimination means for how we build this roster? The old spring window let you plug holes after spring ball revealed them. Now everything has to happen in December and January. You basically have to predict your roster needs six months ahead of time or you are stuck with what you have for the whole season.
The staff better be working the crystal ball activity hard right now because the dead period is the only time to evaluate before the winter window opens. I keep checking the 247 composite and the portal activity and it feels like we are gambling on the 2027 class to fill gaps instead of using the protal the way everybody else does.
Sources close to the program say the NIL structure is clean and the bagmen are ready to move when the window opens. But waiting until December to address a hole at corner or edge feels like playing with fire when Oregon and Ohio State are already lining up their portal targets for the winter.
