Everybody screaming about our 2027 class ranking at No. 11 while ignoring the real issue is driving me nuts. The ESPN Big Ten preview literally put us in the "standing in the way" tier with Oregon and Ohio State ahead of us. That is NOT a recruiting ranking problem. That is a development and depth problem that no amount of five-star croots fix overnight. You can stack 247 composite stars all day but if the position rooms that actually win games in this league are thin then the ranking means nothing.
We need to stop pretending like the answer is just out-recruiting Georgia and Oregon on the trail. The portal is where we should be hunting right now especially at the line of scrimmage. Oklahoma State brought in 50 transfers under Eric Morris. Colorado grabbed 43. That is the model for closing the gap not hoping some silent commit holds until signing day. We cannot keep running out a roster that wins on paper in February and gets pushed around in November.
