Half the national media has us sitting at No. 11 in the 2027 recruiting rankings with zero five-stars right now and I keep seeing the same tired takes about how we are falling behind. Let me tell you something about how this staff is actually operating. They are not chasing the same five-star circus that Ohio State and Georgia are throwing bags at every year. The kids we are targeting right now are the ones who actually want to be here, not the ones collecting NIL offers like trading cards. Watch the film on the guys we have quietly built relationships with over the last year. The coaching staff has been stockpiling talent that fits our system perfectly, not just stacking star ratings for Twitter hype. Every single recruiting year for the past three years we have finished strong in December because these coaches know how to close when it matters. The panic about July rankings is laughable when you consider how many of these top-10 schools will get flipped on signing day anyway. We already have the foundation of a top-15 class with guys who are locked in and recruiting for us harder than any staff could. The best recruiting tool we have right now is the product on the field this fall. Baylor coming to Jordan-Hare in week one gives us a chance to show recruits exactly what they are signing up for. Watch what happens once teams start taking losses and those five-stars start looking for a real program.
