About the one JUCO kid that nobody is talking about who is gonna be an absolute monster for us and I have been pounding the table on this for weeks. We have been so focuesd on the five-star croots and the portal bagman battles that everybody forgot Lincoln Riley and this staff quietly identified a juco sleeper pick at a massive position of need and the crystal ball movement has been silent because the national guys are sleeping on it.
I am talking about a defensive back who has that old school mentality. You watch his juco film and you see a kid who plays with that same edge we had back in the early 2000s when our secondary was attacking everything. He is not a 247 composite darling because he took the juco route but the staff loves his length and his ability to press at the line. Sources close to the program say he is already turning heads in those voluntary workouts and the coaches are buzzing about his physicality.
Here is the thing about juco kids. They come in hungry. They have something to prove. They are not sitting around thinking about their NIL bag or their draft stock. They want to hit somebody and they want to prove that the recruiting services were wrong about them. This kid fits that mold perfectly and I am hearing he is gonna be an early enrollee in the winter window which means he gets a full spring ball to work with our new defensive backs coach.
People forget that some of the best players in USC history came from the juco ranks. We do not always need the five-star from the 247 composite. Sometimes you need a dog who has been through the grind and knows what it takes to earn a spot. This kid is that guy and I am telling you right now he is gonna be a name you remember by October.
The staff is quietly stacking talent at the positions where we need depth and this juco sleeper pick is the kind of move that separates the programs that just recruit stars from the programs that build real rosters. Watch the On3 board. The update is coming. Trust me on this one.
