You watch these new coaches like Sumrall at Florida come in with all this energy about "rebuilding" and "recruiting surges" and I just think about the 1992 season under Coach Stallings. We didn't need a "good mindset" and a bunch of portal magic. We took a team that went 5-6 the year before, ran the wishbone down people's throats, and won the damn national championship. These kids today want everything handed to them in the spring portal window. Now that they took that away, watch how many of these "rebuilds" crumble when you actually have to develop players instead of buying them. Sumrall might be a good coach but he's fighting a system that rewards quitting over loyalty. Coach Bryant would have run half these kids off the practice field for even thinking about transferring.
