Calling it now: we are about to lose at least two commits from the 2026 class before the dead period ends. I have been watching the crystal ball acivity around some of our higher rated guys and the Rivals chatter is getting louder by the day. Oregon and Texas have been circling like vultures and the bagmen from both programs are absolutely relentless in this window.
The ESPN summer recruiting intel piece that just dropped is basically a roadmap showing which programs are applying pressure right now and we are squarely in the crosshairs. Ohio State already flipped one of our top targets last year and now I am hearing noise that a certain four star defensive back we thought was locked in has been taking quiet OVs without telling the staff. That is never a good sign.
The 247 composite is going to take a hit if this domino falls. We cannot afford to lose momentum when we finally cracked the top 15 nationally in the 2026 team rankings. The staff needs to get these kids on campus for the remaining summer visits and lock down the ones who are actually solid versus the ones who are just using us as leverage for better NIL packages elsewhere.
Mark my words: by the time fall practice rolls around we will have at least one decommitment and a flip to either Oregon or Texas. The writing is on the wall if you know where to look in the recruiting databases. Hope I am wrong but the intel does not lie.
